Prior to acquiring these bulbs, I had attempted to use torpedo shaped CFLs w/candelabra base (related to Sylvania 25986, but not positive if the exact same). The torpedo bulb produced a continuous high-pitched buzzy whiney racket. I also couldn't acquire it in higher wattage than 9 watt (40 watt equivalent), so they were dismally dim, to boot. I reluctantly reverted back to 60 watt incandescent bulbs. At this time I switched to these GE 13 watt spirals. They don't make any noise, and though the package stated 60 watt equivalent, they're truly considerably brighter than the 60 watt incandescent frost chandelier bulbs that I replaced. Keep in thoughts, with CFL's it takes a couple of minutes to reach peak brightness, which is no large deal. I replaced a total of six 60 watt incandescent bulbs with six 13 watt CFL's in two ceiling fans... that is a fairly fantastic deal! Also, because the ceiling fans are highly high up and call for tippy toe on a step stool, I'm happy to have bulbs that will not demand changing as frequently. The only factor that would make these better is if GE would generate a candelabra version of their Reveal CFL's (my favorites), but until they do, I am happily sticking with these.

I acquire dozens of solutions each and every month. THis GE product produced in Chine (yes: e) is crap! Two of the 4 bulbs burned out in much less than 1 month! In all probability with less than 30 hours on them! Difficulty is, I dont know exactly where else to get them!
